Youth Theatre Classes?
Junior Classes - Each week the theatre space is decorated to incorporate a different theme - for example - castles, inside the Tv, magic forest etc.
The class will meet a character and go on an adventure, creating stories or get dressed up and make up their own stories which they act out to the rest of the class on stage.
Inter Classes - At this stage we work more on stage skills such as improvisation, creating mini shows and confidence building.
Senior Classes - our older children work on more advanced stage skills that incorporate audition technique, monologues and more emotive themes and advanced comedy skills.
Musical Theatre Classes?
Musical Theatre Classes Our Musical theatre classes are taught by Expressive arts director Jacquii Gavigan and a fab dance choreographer and are a mix of singing, dancing and acting through song.
Each week the class will learn a Musical Theatre number and learn how to bring that song to life.
The songs are picked to suit each age and stage of class.
Although we are not a performance-based Youth Theatre - The youth theatre do one main show each year - our Panto, every class does their own show. Each class works on the panto from October – December and perform in our very own Theatre. A full set / costumes / lights are provided for these shows.
Our Junior and Inter classes are also involved in monthly presentations where once a month we invite parents back 15 minutes before the end to see a wee show we've made up in class time. This gets the children used to being on stage / the lights / having an audience etc.
All musical Theatre classes do a joint Christmas concert in November / December and an individual class performance of a well-known or devised Musical Theatre Show in June.
FIB RUN ELMBANK THEATRE WHERE ALL OUR YOUTH THEATRE CLASSES TAKE PLACE.
ELMBANK THEATRE IS A MODERN CONFERENCE STYLE THEATRE WITH STAGE, FULL LIGHTING RIG AND PA SYSTEM AND AN AUDIENCE CAPACITY OF AROUND 120.
